The roots of the Pharmaceutical Company can be found in the fertile ground of Research. Scientific research is at the core of Giuliani’s Mission, it is the nourishment of its activity, the energy that stimulates innovation and that allows the achievement of its primary goal: satisfying the Consumers’ different needs in terms of health an d wellbeing.
The way in which Giuliani conducts scientific research in Italy is peculiar and it has always characterized its activity. Strong of an established experience in the pharmaceutical field, the Research & Development Division consists of a team of researchers and technicians with a specific training in different sectors: biology, biotechnologies, pharmaceutical chemistry and food technology. The Division adopts the typical methodological approach of drug development and applies it to all the ingredients and the developed products: supplements, cosmetics and medical devices in the different areas of skin, nails and hair care and special foods.
Project – In vitro studies – Patent – Product Development – Clinical Trial: Giuliani’s Research activity for product development follows a specific path.
Starting with a project, the Research & Development Division creates the prototype formulas, on which they conduct in vitro studies; they then select the best performing formulas or those which have been improved compared to the existing ones and make the Consumers judge them through panel tests. The ingredients used by scientific research and the technology included in the formula of each product have been patented: after the submission of the patents, they move to the product development phase.
The product efficacy is assessed through clinical trials.
The results of a rigorous scientific research methodology, the active substances and patented technologies make Giuliani products exclusive:
- There are 386 granted and used patents, 310 at the European level and 76 in the rest of the world
- There are 95 submitted patents currently being assessed, 24 at the European level and 71 in the rest of the world
The results from Giuliani’s Research are shared with the national and international scientific community through several validated publications on specialized journals. Similarly, the Pharmaceutical Company actively participates in national and international congresses with original scientific contributions, through which it releases study results.
In cooperation with the most prestigious academic, national and international institutes, Giuliani constantly designs scientific research programmes in the different sectors of our activity. Currently active research programmes see the Company cooperate with the University of Manchester (UK), the University of London (UK), the Istituto San Gallicano in Rome (Italy), the University of Bologna (Italy), the University of Milan (Italy) and the University of Bari (Italy).
Aware that investing in scientific research favors innovation and the development of increasingly effective products, in 2010 Giuliani heavily invested in the opening of the Molecular and Cell Biology Lab, which deals with in vitro experimentation (cell lines, skin models, organ cultures).
