Giuliani was founded in 1889 in Milan by Doctor Germano Giuliani, a pharmacist and chemist from Arco di Trento (a small town that was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) who, once arrived in Milan, purchased the Antica Farmacia del Lazzaretto. In his laboratory, Giuliani defined and patented the formula of the Amaro Medicinale, a preparation for the treatment of digestive problems that, over a brief period of time, started to provide great satisfaction to customers.
With the transformation occurred in 1937 of what was initially a simple pharmaceutical laboratory into a large factory for large scale production of the Amaro Medicinale – transformation that required its relocation in Via Pelagio Palagi, which is still today the headquarter of the Company – the pharmaceutical company was born.
From that moment onwards, our distinctive passion for science and our natural tendency to innovation have led us to explore new therapeutic areas in order to address people’s new needs. This is how, to the original specialization in the gastrointestinal area, we have added our focus in the dermatology and trichology areas and in the sector of food supplements and special foods.
Rigorous scientific research and the desire to improve people’s lives have led us to develop successful products known all over the world: over our 130 years’ history we have contributed to support pharmaceutical culture and the role of Pharmacy in promoting health and wellbeing for men and women.
Today as in the past, as desired by the founding family – which is today at its fourth generation – we are a 100% Italian Pharmaceutical Company that works in the name of Innovation, Quality, Research and Integrity. These are the values which have inspired our activity from its beginnings, values thanks to which we have always been considered among the most reliable pharmaceutical companies in Italy and we are internationally known as a point of reference for the development of new products.
To ensure compliance with the values and the ethical standards distinguishing Giuliani’s activity and to address our primary commitment – contributing to improve people’s health and quality of life – the company has summarized these standards and their inspiring principles in the Code of Ethics. Our Code of Ethics, to which all Giuliani employees are required to adhere in their daily working activities, is part of the Organization, Management and Control Model adopted by the Company under the Legislative Decree 231/2001.
